Here is a picture of the body parts of a mosquito (pic 1). As you can see, a mosquito was divided into three parts: head, thorax, and abdomen. And at the thorax, there is legs and wings. And later we will be telling you these five parts.
At the part head, there are five important parts: proboscis, antenna, ocellus, compound eye, and brain (pic 2). The proboscis is what a mosquito used for sucking blood. The antenna is important for detecting host odors and the odor of the place female lay eggs. Ocellus is also called as simple eye, which is a type of eye contains a single eye, so it means that compound eyes contain more than one eye. And the brain contains three pairs of ganglia in its head. Next it’s the thorax. It includes many things, but the most important part that I’m telling you about now is its prothorax (pic 3). In prothorax, there is a part called salivary gland. There are four important usages of salivary gland: 1.Make blood feeding easier. 2.Dispatch parasite 3.Produce chemicals for completion of parasite life cycle 4.Have probable receptors for recognition of sporozoites. Then it’s abdomen, there are two important parts: abdominal segments and cercus (pic 4). There are seven abdominal segments in a mosquito’s abdomen. After the seventh one, it is the cercus. It is the fur at the bottom of a mosquito. After that, the next part is its wings (pic 5). One mosquito has one pair of wings used for flying. There are longitudinal veins and crossveins in their wings. The last thing is its legs. There are three pairs of legs: foreleg, mid leg, and hind leg (pic 6). In each leg, there are three main parts: Femur, Tibia, and tarsomeres. In each tarsomere, there are five parts. References:
